Echolocation:  Most Anabat calls are distinct & easily recognized.  Some can be confused with LABO or LASE ~35K, short & curvilinear, regular Fmin

Florida Distribution:   Peninsular FL

Roosting Behavior:  Small colonies (20-100),, harems groups  Males sometimes solitary. Documented in buildings, bridges and culverts,. Often associated with TABR or EPFU   Also loose bark, cavity trees, beneath dead palm fronds.  Observed in abandoned RCW cavities in central FL (Finn unpublished) and radio-tracked to pines in Georgia.

Foraging Behavior: Captured in urban areas, swamps  pine forests. Small beetles, flies, bugs, plant hoppers, moths

Reproduction: Twins born late April to early May, sometimes triplets.  Juveniles volant in 3 - 4 weeks.

Management and Conservation Recommendations:  Although this bat is relatively common, it is poorly studied in the SE and little is known beyond maternity season.  Nycticeius were observed roosting in structures and bat houses during surveys in FL, GA & SC.  Diligent IPM practices that include the Installation of bat houses and roost mitigation and will help manage nuisance colonies.
